MAKERS OF BEAUTY QUEENS – ROSE MAROK

Glamour Magazine

Rose Marok, born and brought up in a very little town called Nanakmatta in district Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand India. Moved to UK 16 years ago and now live in a little village called Hampton in Arden just outside Solihull Birmingham. Before moving to Solihull she lived in Handsworth Birmingham for 10 years.

As says Marok, “My birth place Nanakmatta is a holy place as it is directly connected to two of our Gurus (Sikh gurus) first guru Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the sixth Guru Guru Har Gobind Singh ji. Growing up here was a privilege, everyone knew everyone. I was a very popular little girl, mostly because of the way I looked. My dad tells me that the day I was born everyone from hospital came to see me as they had never seen a baby with blue eyes, blonde hair and white as snow with bright pink cheeks, hence I got the name Rose.

I am number three of four siblings and we have always shared a very strong bond. Having spent most of my childhood in boarding school as our little town didn’t have very good schools, I faced a lot of challenges and learnt a lot.

After finishing schooling, I went for further studies in Punjab, a completely new place for me. Even though I come from a typical Sikh family, cultural difference was huge. But it was fun. I joined KMV college to do BSc (Biology, chemistry and English). But as I can’t just stick to one think even here, I decided to join NCC Air wing. I enjoyed Aeromodelling and more so enjoyed flying them in open fields with my seniors.

After finishing my education, I got introduced to my husband and got married and moved to the UK . This was a major change in my life.”

After moving to the UK, Marok decided to work with her husband in his dental practice. So, she had to pick up all the skills. She started from reception then worked the way up. Today her official title is office/HR manager.

She ventured into beauty business while she was on maternity leave with her second child and opened a beauty salon. This progressed into 2 running salons, which she subsequently sold after running them successfully for few years.

Today she is happily married to her wonderful husband with two beautiful kids. As she says further, “I couldn’t have asked for more in life. 2019 brought another milestone in my life and i entered MRS India UK . After winning the crown and title of Mrs India UK classic, I got the opportunity to represent the United Kingdom as Mrs United kingdom International in Mrs International in West Virginia.

I wanted this platform, to allow me to meet a new group of people, expose me to other parts and avenues that I always wanted to explore and help me do something for the betterment of people around the world if possible. Mrs India UK has spring boarded me into the areas where I can use my natural abilities and people skills, gained over many years, and make a positive difference in this world and show my children that one person can make a difference and that I am making the world better by being the change.

The whole journey of Mrs India UK has been an exceptional journey for me, and 2020 is a very special year for me. Being the director Mrs India UK 2020 I would like to encourage other women out there to come and experience the journey that I have been on. Women empowerment comes to my mind and more and more women should support each other. I am hoping this will be a platform to encourage this.”

Marok is equally involved in so many areas as women’s health, domestic violence , mental health issues , cleaning up oceans and so many others. As she concludes, “I want to make this world a better place for my children , and in this current climate of ~ me too, me first , sectarianism and rising racism , I feel we have to speak up as individuals and women especially to be the change we want to see in the World as a whole. “
