The largest ethnic event of Moscow celebrated on the occasion of 75th Year of India Independence and India-Russia friendship attracted over 2 Million guests over the 4-day mega show at the Dream Island landscape park.
Indian Ambassador Pawan Kapoor opened the festival by planting an apple tree. In total, 75 such apple trees were planted at the festival site – in honor of the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, which is celebrated this year, and the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Moscow and New Delhi.
The founder of the India Day Festival, President of the Indian National Cultural Center SITA Sammy Kotwani said, “Everyone knows that India is a big family of peoples and traditions. By planting 75 trees, we proclaimed unity. Proclaimed that we are a family! Apple trees are a symbol of fertility, health, love and beauty, and that is why apple trees were planted as a sign of strong friendship between the two countries.”
From India, Prime Communication and Beauty & The Best was official media partner of the event. Prime Communication Managing Editor, Preeti Puja also unveiled annual coffee table book titled,” Shining India” which features Indian Prime Minister, top delegates across the world alongwith Mr Sammy Kotwani, President of SITA, the host of India Day Festival.
India Day Festival was attended by guest from 11th-14th August 2022 at the picturesque Dream Island landscape park. During the four days of the festival, Muscovites and guests from India along with of the capital were able to enjoy a joyful and friendly atmosphere, taste spicy Indian dishes, purchase Indian goods, take part in spiritual practices, watch Bollywood films and concerts of Indian and Russian performers, and also make wedding ceremony in accordance with Indian traditions.
The Indian guest included celebrity makeup artist and Mrs India 2021 Pageant winner, Prachi Gandhi and multi-talented& versatile Sona, who owns Sona Beauty Therapy and also fashion choreographer. They conducted Dance Master Class and fashion show with students of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Moscow at the festival , which was highly applied by the audience.
The guests were greeted by the symbol of India, stunning in its beauty – a copy of the Taj Mahal, located between the fountains of the park. Like the previous six years, admission was free for visitors.
The theme of the festival this year was ecology and a healthy lifestyle. At the decorated Vedic venue VEDA WEEKEND, which combines spiritual communication and rich cultural outdoor recreation, one could take part in Indian dance master classes, listen to lectures on Ayurveda, meditate, read mantras, do yoga, watch spherical films, put on hands mehendi, check your eyesight. The well-known psychologist Svetlana Nazoeva conducted the “Support Corridor” practice, which allowed the participants of the festival to relax and start healing processes inside their bodies. And Alexei Sergienko, a yogi from St. Petersburg, did yoga for the eyes, helping to restore poor eyesight.
During all the days of the festival solemn wedding ceremonies were held – couples passed the ceremony according to Indian traditions. One of the couples who played an Indian wedding at the festival was the rapper ST and his wife, TV presenter and blogger Assol. The wedding ceremony was held live on the Moscow 24 TV channel. According to the couple, who have been together for 8 years, and 7 of which ST and Assol are officially married, the event will only strengthen their relationship. In total, 200 Russian couples will got married during the four-day friendship festival. The wedding of two stars will be one of the brightest and most spectacular processions in the ParachuteWedding Zone specially prepared for this procession.
On the final day of the festival, a celebration of the riot of colors Holi took place, which began with the performance of the driving songs of the SPB group! and incendiary dances of the girls from the Bombay Dance team. During the extravaganza of colors, wandering drummers from India staged an impressive show, giving each guest a sea of emotions.
