Councillor Jeevitha Sampangi: A Voice for Unity, Service and Inclusive Leadership

Cllr. Jeevitha Sampangi a women with multiple feathers on her hat is currently serving as a Parish Councillor for Boxley, Maidstone, Kent also a Group Secretary and Diversity Champion Officer, a Trustee for Maidstone Relief in Need Charities and the Howard de Walden Centre, and Member of Maidstone Inter-Faith Network – Representing Hindu (Indian) Culture. Jeevitha is a proud mother of two kids and wife to Mr. Balaji Ravinath, whose unwavering support has been the pillar behind every step of her journey. Jeevitha have lived in Maidstone for the past six years and have spent 14 years in the United Kingdom. holding a master’s degree in human resources and bring over 24 years of professional experience across multiple industries. The Joint Chair and Founder of the Maidstone Indian Association — a community organisation dedicated to bringing people together. Alongside her community service, she works as an Admin Officer with Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AND CULTURAL CONTRIBUTION

Over the past six years, she has actively organised and led many community events including Diwali, Indian New Year celebrations, International Women’s Day, Holi — the Festival of Colours, and initiatives supporting women to grow their home-based businesses.

 

Her focus has always been to keep the community active, promote unity in diversity, and encourage participation within the framework of UK law and values. She is also the founder of Gurukul Arts and Dance Academy, created to nurture cultural learning and build confidence in children through performance.

 

Says Jeevitha, “Our children have proudly represented our community at events such as Maidstone Mela, Medway Motion U-Dance, and the Rochester Sweeps Festival for the past three years. I strongly believe in preserving our culture and traditions wherever we live, while showing deep respect to all communities, beyond language or cultural barriers”.

 

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Jeevitha is passionate to advocate local area and the Maidstone Indian community, dedicating her time and energy to fostering connection and support. She balances her commitment to community with a demanding career at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, where she works tirelessly to serve the healthcare needs of the region.

 

Her dedication to service extends beyond her professional role, as she also serves as a Trustee for two local charities: the Howard de Walden Centre and the Relief I Need Charity, both based in Maidstone. In these roles, she contributes her expertise and compassion to further the organizations’ missions and positively impact the lives of those they serve. Family is a central part of Jeeva’s life.
Her husband works in the healthcare industry in Maidstone and also manages a recruitment consultancy specializing in the hotel and hospitality sector. Jeeva is a strong supporter of her local community, always willing to lend a hand and contribute to its betterment.

POLITICAL JOURNEY

Jeevith is a member of the Liberal Democrats. In 2023 she contested the Maidstone Borough Council elections for the first time, securing 661 votes and narrowly missing victory by just 150 votes.

 

“Despite the close result, my team recognised my commitment and appointed me as the Group Secretary and Diversity Champion Officer, acknowledging my role as a community leader”, quips Jeevitha. In March 2025, she stood again for Parish Councillor and was successfully elected.She continues to organise and attend many local community events, often as a special guest, always representing inclusion and service.

 

BELIEF IN LEADERSHIP

Today, she stands before you not for personal recognition, but to serve with integrity, passion, and credibility. She believes leadership is not about position — it is about courage, accountability, and standing firm for justice, fairness, and progress. Stand for opportunity where there is inequality, transparency where there is silence, and hope where there is uncertainty.Her strength comes from the people she represents — their struggles, their resilience, and their belief that change is possible. VISION FOR DIVERSITY IN SCHOOLS

Jeevitha’s long-term aim is to see diversity education Introduced in primary schools. She would like to encourage parents from different backgrounds to come forward and give short weekly presentations about their country, state, or culture. This can be done in both practical and theoretical ways, helping children learn about cultures from all corners of the world. This early exposure will help children grow with understanding, respect, and acceptance treating other cultures with the same warmth as their own. She believes leadership is defined not by title, but by integrity, accountability, and the courage to advocate for fairness and opportunity.

 

She continues to promote unity in diversity, encourage early cultural awareness in schools, and foster mutual respect across communities. Through her work in public service, charity, culture, business advocacy, and politics, Councillor Jeevitha Sampangi represents a model of modern community leadership —rooted in service, driven by inclusion, and committed to positive and lasting change.
